For this Madden Tips video breakdown, we look at Reading Man or Zone Coverage Pre-Snap. We show two different offensive formations where we can tell if man or zone coverage is called pre-snap.

In the image above the offense comes out in the Gun Doubles HB Wk. The name of the play we use for this break down is called Slants.

The simplest way to read the defensive coverage before the snap is to hot route the outside receiver on the left on a streak route.

In the image above notice the cornerback is lined up between the line of the pass route. This indicates that the defense is in zone coverage.

In the image above the defense has audibled into man coverage. Notice the cornerback is now lined up to the inside of the line of the pass route. This indicates that man coverage has been called.
