The Gun Trey Open – Y Corner utilizes the smash concept to get to the tight end open as he breaks towards the corner. The two receivers to right of him both run in routes underneath.

Coaching Points:

  • Against Cover 0 and Cover 2 man coverage the split end will be open over the deep middle.
  • Against Cover 1, watch for the tight end as he breaks towards the corner.
  • The runningback’s pass route is another good option to throw to against man coverage. If matched up against slower defender, he will be open once he breaks towards the sideline.
