Quick Setup:
- Motion the flanker to the right outside and let him set.
- Smart route him if over 8 yards for a first down.
Coaching Points:
- Depending on the coverage the split end, we’ll run a curl, post, or an out route. Against man coverage, he will run the out route.
- The flanker, if motioned to the outside, will get off the line of scrimmage without being jammed. Before he curls back, throw him the ball while he is going up the field.
- The slot receiver is another option. However, he will get jammed at the line of scrimmage before breaking towards the short middle of the field.
- Cooper Kupp lines up in the backfield to the left of the quarterback, when running this play from the Los Angeles Rams Playbook

Final Thoughts:
The Gun Split WR Backfield – Dig WR Option is an excellent play to run against bump and run man (press) coverage as there are three receivers to look to throw at. What we like about this play is if your opponent is controlling a linebacker or safety over the short to mid-middle of the field, he cannot cover those two outside receivers.
