It’s the space between the guard and the tackle. See that? Watch as he just zips right in there. No pre-snap adjustments needed for this. This 3-4 Odd Will Buck 3 Press is one of those plays that just works.

It’s definitely a play to have in your arsenal, especially if you’re a fan of running any kind of 3-4 defense. The 3-4 Odd Will Buck 3 Press is simple to use, and it’s effective. Next up, we’ve got another gem, the 3-4 Even Mike Scrape 3 Press. This one is really interesting. The pressure will come from one of two guys: the left outside LB or the left inside LB. Sometimes, you even get both of them coming in, which is just pure chaos for the offense! The thing is, they’re both going to get that pressure from the outside. So, what you’ll see is one of them either coming straight off the edge or looping around to get to the QB.

I’ve seen it come from both guys on different reps. The left inside LB will get in free, or the left outside LB will just absolutely fly around the edge. This 3-4 Even Mike Scrape 3 Press is designed to keep the offense guessing. You can get some serious pressure with this play. You don’t have to do anything but call the play and watch your guys go to work. The unpredictability of the 3-4 Even Mike Scrape 3 Press makes it so good.

Alright, now let’s talk about the Nickel 2-4 Overload 3 Seam. This one is out of the Nickel formation, and you’ll notice that the nickel back is often lined up way out to the outside. Now, I promise you, that player is still going to get pressure. It might take him a second, but he will shoot through that B-gap. Now, I know we’re talking about plays with no adjustments, but if you want to make this even more effective, just hit show blitz. You’ll get some sweet A-gap pressure from the linebacker, and that’s just a beautiful thing.

You can get pressure on the QB with the Nickel 2-4 Overload 3 Seam without any adjustments, but that little extra tweak can really make it sting. Numerous times, a quick show blitz will bring that nickel back a little closer to the line and help him get that pressure faster. I’m not saying you have to do it, but it’s definitely an option to consider when using this Nickel 2-4 Overload 3 Seam. This is just another fantastic play in the Steelers playbook.

Moving on to another nickel defense, the Nickel 2-4 Double Mug Nickel 2 Trap. I really like this defense a lot. The guy you’re going to get pressure from here is your nickel back. With this play, one of two things usually happens. He’s either going to come off the edge for some outside pressure, or he may squeeze inside between the left guard and the left tackle. He might even come through the B-gap. It’s all about confusing the offensive line.

You can see how he gets in there from the outside. That pressure on the QB is what we’re after, and this play delivers without having to mess with any pre-snap adjustments. The Nickel 2-4 Double Mug Nickel 2 Trap is a reliable play for bringing the heat. Sometimes you won’t get through, but you will often find that you’re getting to the QB with this one.

Alright, for our fifth and final play, we’re heading to the Dime formation with the Dime 2-3 Overload 3 Press. This is another excellent zone blitz with no adjustments required. The pressure generally comes from the nickel back here. He’ll come through that B-gap, or he may end up getting pressure from the outside. It all depends on how the blocking shakes out.

I’ve seen him get in there from the outside and the inside with this Dime 2-3 Overload 3 Press. This play is designed to hit where the offense isn’t looking. If you want to make it a little more effective, you can call “show blitz,” and it’ll bring that nickel back in a little closer, helping him get to the QB a lot quicker. This Dime 2-3 Overload 3 Press is an absolute must-use if you’re looking for a quick and simple way to get pressure.

These five zone blitzes are fantastic starting points for any defensive-minded player. They bring consistent pressure and don’t require you to be a master of pre-snap adjustments. Just call the play, and let your defenders do their thing. The key is to understand where the pressure is coming from so you can be ready to capitalize on the chaos.
