The Gun Trey – Verticals Y Drag is a 3×1 formation that has 3 receivers lined up to the right and the tight end lined up on the left.
To create a mismatch, we want to send the runningback in motion to the right.
Against the Nickel Normal – Cover 2 Man, the nickel back and left linebacker will switch.
This puts Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone on Buccaneers receiver X-Factor Mike Evans. This is a matchup that favors the offensive side of the ball.
Once the Evans breakdowns towards the middle on his deep crossing route, he will gain a few steps on the Anzalone, allowing for him to get open.
