Coaching Points:
- Against Man Coverage, the wheel route that is run by the split end will get open. What we like about this route is the receiver cannot be jammed at the line of scrimmage.
- Make sure that you take control of the receiver if you decide to throw the ball to the and manually move them inside to make the catch.
- Another receiver that we like to throw the ball to is the slot receiver who runs a Deep Crossing route. He often will be open as he comes across the deep middle for a bullet pass.
- The tight end is another option we will look to throw to if neither of those first two receivers are open. Against man coverage, he will run the out route.

Final Thoughts:
The Pistol Bunch TE – Verticals is a great man press beater to run when it’s acting Cover 0 and Cover 1 man coverage. The outside receiver running the wheel route and not getting jammed at the line of scrimmage, plus the deep crossing route and the out route ran by the tight end, makes this play effective against man coverage.
