Note: assignments are from the offensive side view of the ball.

Quick Set-Up:

  1. Take control of the RILB and move him down near the line of scrimmage between the left guard and left tackle.
  2. Once the ball is snapped, slant the RILB towards the left tackle (watch the video for better understanding).
  3. Once the C commits to blocking the RILB release or drop him into pass coverage.

Coaching Points:

  1. The design of the 3-4 Under – OLB Strike 2 comes from the left outside linebacker.
  2. Best to run against base and compress .
  3. Consider running this down inside the critical zone.
  4. If your opponent is in the critical zone consider hot routing the two safeties in vertical hooks. This adjustment will put them in a better position to defend the short pass over the middle.

Final Thoughts:

The 3-4 Under – OLB Strike 2 is a simple defense to set up that brings outside pressure. If you play in a connected online franchise, this defense will not raise any flags since you only have to move one defender.
