3-4 Over – Sting Pinch

For this Madden Plays video breakdown, we show a few different blitz variations of 3-4 Over Sting Pinch. We show how to get A Gap pressure with just making one pre-snap adjustment. We also show a simple setup that gets the 3-4 Over Sting Pinch double edge pressure. Towards the end of the video breakdown, we show how to drop one defender into zone coverage, while still getting double edge pressure.

Default Assignments:

Quick Set-Up:

1. Slant Defensive Line Outside
2. Take control of the RILB and move him to the A-Gap between the C and RG, then release him.
3. Take control of the NT and hot route him into a hook zone (optional)
4. Before the snap, stay in control of the NT and press down on the left stick.
5. Once the ball is snapped, allow the NT to take a step towards the line of scrimmage, then drop him back over the short middle field.

Coaching Points:

1. The design of the pressure is to come from the both the left and right outside linebackers.
2. The idea behind dropping the nose tackle back into zone coverage is to help defend against quick passes over the middle.
3. Man press coverage is even more risky, so make to mix in with Cover 2
4. The 3-4 Over – Sting Pinch is a Cover 0 defense, meaning there is no defenders dropping deep in zone coverage. It’s a high risk, high reward defense.

In the video breakdown, we show another blitz setup for the 3-4 Over – Sting Pinch. We show how to get A-Gap pressure from the right inside linebacker. This setup requires just one pre-snap adjustment. Regardless of what setup you run, there is always chance of getting beat with a big play down the field since there is safety help over the top.
